On July 9, 1966, Dad, Mom, Jill and I left on a vacation. The first night we stayed in Fresno, then went to Tahoe. We stayed at "Little Bear Lodge." Jill & I enjoyed laying out getting tan. We all went on a Sahara Tour together. Later that night we went to the Sahara Show - all dressed up for a dinner and entertainment.
We left Tahoe and drove through Reno on our way to Oakland. We went to see the Oakland Temple walking around the temple grounds - it was beautiful. We drove through San Francisco and went through some shops in China Town. I remember buying a "pinkie" ring. We stayed at Monterey and enjoyed swimming at the hotel.
When we left to come home on July 14th, Dad let me drive and I was all excited that I drove 100 miles. I had only had my license 4 months so it was exciting then. I remember that when we stopped to eat and I used the restroom to wash my hands, I took off my new "pinkie" ring and forgot about it leaving it on the restroom counter. We had already drove at least 50 miles when I realized that but being the parents that they were, they turned around and went back to the restaurant to retrieve my "pinkie" ring. Unfortunately, the ring was gone but it showed me that Dad & Mom didn't just say "So sad, too bad" but gave the effort to help me with my situation losing my ring. That's how they always were - very caring.
